Inductive Automation donated Ignition Perspective licensing through the Community Impact Program. Ignition Perspective serves as a core operational and training platform across The Backyard Shop.

Ignition supports day-to-day shop operations including machine access control, area access, production tracking, work execution, and process monitoring, providing a unified interface for managing activity under defined procedures.

Members and mentors use Ignition to interact with live dashboards, equipment status views, and historical data tied to real fabrication and training activity, reinforcing documentation, traceability, and disciplined execution.

Ignition also supports instructional use in PLC and automation training by allowing participants to visualize real signals, monitor running processes, and review historical trends connected to actual shop operations.

By operating within the same systems used to manage access, production, and monitoring, members gain hands-on experience with industrial software, strengthening training outcomes and system literacy expected in professional manufacturing environments.
